Hypnosis Training Q & A
What made you go into the hypnosis business, how old were you when you started, and what is the most important reason you became as good as you are?
I was twenty years old when I first discovered hypnosis. I was lucky to have a very enthusiastic teacher who taught me everything and gave me plenty of advice. I’ve been doing it for 44 years, so I’ve had quite a lot of practice!
The course includes an explanation of hypnosis induction techniques.
Who could benefit from your training? Who should attend?
Hypnotherapy provides an opportunity for anyone looking to start a business with very low risk. I look for people who are dedicated and wish to help others. There is no great secret about hypnosis because it’s a relatively straightforward process, but I know therapists in the UK who easily make more than £1,000 to £3,000 per week and more! A lot of hypnotherapists work part-time and most charge between £80 and £150 per session — a lot more if you’re located in central London where fees can be much higher.
I know hypnotherapists who are making fortunes simply by helping others. Many of my former students, such as Paul McKenna, whom I taught in the early 1990s, have done extremely well.
There is a large demand for weight loss hypnosis, but to run a really successful hypnotherapy business you should be prepared to help people with all kinds of problems and issues — all of which are covered in the course.
Around 50% of hypnotherapists now work online from home rather than from an office. If working online has certain advantages — you don’t need any special equipment, apart from a laptop and internet connection. I also explain how, with a little application, you can get your business going. It’s possible to earn back the cost of the course in just one month! Unlike other courses, you will be learning from someone who really has done it all.
The popular belief is that the hypnotised person is totally under the control of the hypnotist… is this true?
Stage hypnotists do create that image, but really, it’s just showmanship. In fact, hypnosis is a consent state which is based on well-understood psychological techniques. Having said that, there is a lot you can do with hypnotherapy that often seems almost miraculous!
What are the most common problems that can be treated successfully with hypnosis?
Without doubt, weight loss and stress & anxiety are the most common, but clients come along for a wide variety of problems. With the course comes nearly 400 pages of FREE hypnosis scrips to help clients achieve their goals. (https://www.newtonhypnosis.com/shop/)
What qualifications do you need to practice hypnotherapy?
The short answer is… none! Hypnotherapists don’t need any formal qualifications! The course concentrates on skills that are easy to learn in as little as 3 days! So it’s easy to start up in business.
Can hypnosis be useful to doctors and nurses and if so, how?
The short answer is… Yes! Many illnesses turn out to be purely psychosomatic, but in the medical world it’s simply quicker to write a prescription rather than spend an hour with a patient. There’s a disturbing truth here… when it comes to psychosomatic medicine, rugs only keep symptoms at bay… they don’t actually cure the illness!
I would like to see that situation change! It’s safe to say that if it hadn’t been for the discovery of chemical based anaesthetics, Hypnosis would probably be the medical standard today. In the USA, medical students undergo a certain period of instruction in hypnosis.
Years of studies, carried out by some of the most prestigious institutions around the world, have shown the effectiveness of hypnosis in medicine. From the operating theatre to post-operative recuperation, from childbirth to dentistry, hypnosis is now being more and more commonly used.
What other kinds of hypnosis related businesses are possible?
Apart from private sessions, it’s also possible to run group sessions that are just as successful as one-to-one sessions. The approach is a little different — you will learn how to deal with small groups. We cover this in the course when we look at the psychology of group behaviour. This is a fascinating part of the training, because it questions traditional ideas and is supported by interesting illustrative film footage.
Corporate work.
There is a great demand worldwide for stress management. A recent study showed that days lost by stress related illness costs the UK £3.5 billion in productivity losses every year. That number is much higher in the US. Once you learn these skills, they can be adapted to treat conflict management, effective leadership, and sporting excellence.
Can hypnosis improve personal performance and make you more effective?
The simple answer is YES, it can boost self-confidence, self-image and concentration, as well as remove the mental barriers that get in the way of success. It’s also extremely effective for anyone involved in sports at any level. Personal performance depends largely on enthusiasm, self motivation and application. That can sometimes be difficult, but with self hypnosis, it can become second nature.
